  • It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated and realize that it’s because lately things have been sentimental as college life is drawing to a close.  I don’t want to admit that it’s ending, but sadly time flies when you’re having fun.  Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been spending time with as many people as possible and have just been trying to soak up and optimize this unique college vibe.  I even took the long way home from class and walked around Sproul just to reminisce back to those younger days on campus during rallies, protests and daily tabling.

    Good Times:

§    I was officially sold at a Date Auction for $60.  Date Auctions are very distinct environments and often end up as a Catch 22.  You want to raise money from other people, yet only the weird shady guys/girls bid on your friends compelling you to bail them out.  Ultimately, no substantial revenue is fundraised.

§    While interviewing multiple account executives at the Daily Cal, I learned much about press politics and the life of a journalist.  Good kids.

§    PiLam Elections take way too long.  10 hours for only 3 offices.

§    Anne’s Kitchen is a wonderful place to pig out!  Props to Jerome for visiting!

§    Although still getting adjusted, having a significant other in your life can be extremely rewarding.

§    Strangely, I was completely unintrigued by this year’s ASUC elections.  I’m beginning to get tired of the negativity that people bring upon each other simply for a minute amount of power.

§    Cal Lobby Corps held our final meeting and I hate to admit that I’ll still miss all the drama and politics behind the ASUC.  It’s a wonderful place to learn about how people manage their interpreted superiority and jurisdiction over others.

§    PiLam Actives have conquered the Alumni Softball team for the second year in a row!  Good thing I took one for the team and decided not to participate.

§    San Francisco Beerfest may be the greatest idea ever.  The positive atmosphere coupled with high quality golden grain beverage as well as an unlimited sampling buffet proved to satiate even the most demanding individuals.  Plus, the women honestly started to become more attractive minute by minute.

§    PAD Zeta Class Fall 2004 held our last potluck and it was beautiful seeing everyone so accomplished almost 2 years after initiating.  It’s good to be in good company.

§    PiLam seniors had our final meeting.  Sniff, yes I cried and talked for about 40 minutes, straight.

§    Green Tea Tempura Ice cream is God’s gift to man.  It’s warm, cold, soft and crispy all at the same time!

§    Good company and engaging conversation is what makes dinner interesting and enjoyable.

§    I never thought I would teach a woman how to play mind games against other men.  Terrible.

§    Mmm, I had dinner twice on Tuesday aka. Ate for about 4 straight hours.

§    I’m gaining weight and getting fat.  This is what happens to a second semester senior.

§    Raleigh’s closes at 11 PM on Wednesdays!  That’s ridiculous . . . what if some people want to enjoy themselves on hump day?

§    I just remembered that I have a 20 pg paper due next week.  And I’m not starting anytime soon.

§    I still haven’t gotten my graduation gown.  Don’t let me graduate!!!

Sigh, 2 weeks left boys & girls!  Let’s hang out!  SENIOR CLASS 2006 Yaaaaayyyuuuuhhh!!!!!!!!

  • Smile, but don’t be afraid to cry . . .

Although I possess a considerable amount of emotional stability, I have come to the conclusion that it often hinges and reflects the emotions of those around me.  In a typical day, I’m usually upbeat and carefree, happy with the optimistic side of daily situations.  However, over the past week, there have been countless situations where I have been immersed in negative/pessimistic/unhappy atmospheres.  I try valiantly to be patient with people, yet everyone has their individual and communal problems and it is often difficult to cater or always try to find the right thing to say.  When comforting others or brightening people’s days by revealing a more positive perspective from my own thoughts, I often find myself absorbing tidbits of their discomfort.  In small doses this is not particularly a problem, as I am naturally cheerful.  Yet when those closest to me encounter situations and often seek my advice or opinion in tandem, I often feel an elevated load of mental stress or worry over the well being of those that I surround myself with.  It’s so easy to always complain or let small things in life get you down, that I often wonder what type of chemical makeup yields the balance of our emotions and whether many people are inherently inbalanced.

This week’s events have sparked tears by many.  I have started to grasp an understanding of this emotion and find it to be a fascinating one.  Whether they be tears of pain, joy, frustration, or laughter, tears express a hidden emotion that is inexplicable and often much more powerful than dialogue.  There is something unique about this inherent emotion, where as soon as they become visible, those small, streaming droplets strike a chord in all people no matter what the background.  It’s a universal language that expresses passion for what certain individuals believe in and often times can not be ignored.  Tears even serve as a tool that builds and strengthens those invaluable bonds between diverse groups of people.  Truly those casual and formal relationships that we hold so dear become much more comfortable when both sides freely express their emotions.  Communication is the key to any interaction, and there’s much more than simply talking.

So smile, but don’t be afraid to cry . . .

  • This might possibly be the most intelligent verse of rap ever written.  I'd have to agree with Tupac on this one, even if women are crazy

And I ain't tryin to gash up, I just call em how I see em
You know it makes me unhappy
When brothas make babies and leave a young mother to be a pappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That hate the ladies that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one . . .

  • After officially interviewing with 21 separate companies in first rounds alone, and about 10 second and final rounds, my recruitment escapades have finally drawn to a close.  As of today, I have sold my soul to Wells Fargo and will be starting in SF this summer!  This way, I’ll still be able to visit all the Berkely kiddies that haven’t graduated.

It’s very interesting how college can shape one’s outlook on the future.  My tastes and preferences have somewhat changed as I am no longer accustomed to the Southern California Lifestyle and feel extremely comfortable residing in the Bay Area.  Of course most of my good friends are still in SoCal, but I suppose that means there’s more opportunity to meet new individuals

Anyways, now that I’m not going to be running around in suits all day anymore, I guess that means we’ll all have more free time for each other.  Apparently there are only 3 weeks left of instruction.  Seeing that I haven’t enjoyed being instructed for the past 4 years, this translates into 3 weeks of fun and excitement.  Call me, Let’s Play!

Luckily I had the honor of stepping into a picture with the highly important Executive Coordinator of some Tri-Fraternity Charity Ball.  Damn, I should have just been a Business Major.
